Contact & Support
Football Tactics Board is a free, local-first tool: everything runs in your browser, no account is needed, and your tactical boards live in your own browser storage. This page explains how to solve the most common questions yourself in under a minute, what to include when you report a bug, and which direct contact channels are opening soon. Email support is not publicly listed at this stage — this page is the fastest route to answers.
Before you write: the 60-second checklist
Most issues disappear with one of five checks. First, if the board looks different from your last visit, press Reset board once — the tool restores the default 4-3-3 versus 4-4-2 setup and clears drawings. Second, if a drawing tool seems unresponsive, confirm the right tool is selected in the toolbar: players and the ball only drag with the Select (or Players) tool, while arrows, lines and zones are drawn with their own tools. Third, if an export fails, retry once — export renders the pitch to a 2100-pixel canvas, which a single overloaded browser tab can occasionally reject. Fourth, if you drew in a private window, remember that private windows do not keep localStorage, so sketches made there are intentionally not saved. Fifth, clearing your browser's site data removes your saved board — export anything you want to keep first.
Reporting a bug effectively
A good bug report gets fixed; a vague one gets guessed at. When something breaks, include these six facts: the page address (for example /soccer-whiteboard or /fr/football-board), your device and browser (Chrome on Android, Safari on iPad, Edge on Windows), what you clicked or dragged immediately before the issue, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and whether reloading the page fixes it. If the issue involves an export, mention the export format (PNG or SVG) and roughly how many objects were on the board.
Screenshots help enormously. Because the board is drawn as SVG, a simple full-page screenshot usually shows everything needed — the toolbar state, the pitch and the exact moment things went wrong.
Feature requests
Feature requests are welcome and read carefully. The most useful requests describe the coaching problem, not only the solution: "I need to show my under-12 squad when to press as a unit" leads to a better feature than "add a press button". The current roadmap priorities are more preset libraries (attacking patterns, set-piece routines), per-team custom colours beyond the current palette, additional pitch skins, and — the big one — additional sports on the sport-agnostic engine. Telling us which of those would change your weekly session helps us order the list.
Content and collaboration
If you coach at a club or academy and want to contribute a training diagram, a set-piece routine or a translated term that reads more naturally in your language, say so in your message — community-contributed presets are planned, with credit. The same applies to creators and educators who want to use Football Tactics Board diagrams in published analysis, videos or lesson material: the diagrams you export are yours, and licensing questions are answered in the Terms of Service.
Privacy questions
The tactical tools store everything locally and send nothing to a server. Questions about localStorage, technical logs, analytics opt-outs and data removal are answered in detail in the Privacy Policy — including the exact steps to wipe every trace of your boards from a device.
Response expectations
Football Tactics Board is maintained by a small team, so response times depend on volume. Bug reports that include the six facts above are triaged first. While direct support channels are being finalized, the FAQ sections on every tool page cover the questions that account for the overwhelming majority of support volume: cost and sign-up, formation presets, touch support, export formats and how the automatic local save works.
Frequently asked support questions
My board was empty this morning — why? The board saves to your browser's localStorage. Clearing site data, using a private window, or some browser "cleanup" tools delete it. Export important diagrams, or note that Reset board also clears the current board on purpose.
Can I move my board to another device? The local save does not sync between devices by design — no account exists. Use Export (PNG or SVG) to carry a diagram to another device or to share it.
Why does my phone show a smaller pitch? Portrait phones show a full-width but shorter pitch. Rotating to landscape gives roughly 1.8× the drawing area; every control still works in portrait.
Do the tools work offline? Once a page has loaded, all editing, drawing and export features run client-side, so a dropped connection does not stop your session. Loading the page the first time needs a connection.
Something exported with missing text. Text labels use standard system fonts; if an older browser lacks the fallback, update it or shorten the label — and prefer PNG, which rasterizes exactly what the pitch shows.
