How to use the football board
This football board keeps it simple: one team, one ball, one pitch. It is built for lineups and training layouts rather than dense tactical analysis, so three steps cover the whole job.
Set your lineup
Choose a formation for the Home team — the board arranges all eleven players instantly. Rename the team and pick a colour that matches your kit. This football board is free for every session.
Arrange the players
Drag each player to his position and move the ball to wherever the exercise starts. Swap numbers or add short labels if your session uses specific roles. The football board opens with your team only.
Add the opponent when needed
Press Add opponent team to bring on a full away side in 4-4-2, or keep the football board clean while you focus on your own lineup and setup. No account is needed for the football board.
Draw, label, export
Sketch runs and passing options with arrows and lines, drop text labels on the pitch, then export the football board as a PNG or SVG image. The football board saves your lineup automatically.
A football board for lineups, sessions and match plans
Most football board moments are quick ones: the starting eleven for Sunday, the shape of tonight's possession game, the walking layout for a passing circuit. For those moments you don't want analysis software with fifty panels — you want a pitch, some players and the ability to move them. That is exactly what this online football board is: the fastest route from the idea in your head to an image you can show the team. The football board adds or removes the opponent in one click.
The board opens with your team alone, because the first question is nearly always about your own players. Where does the six drop? How high do the full-backs push? When the answer needs an opponent — a back four to attack, a press to beat — one click adds a complete away team, and a second click removes it again. Nothing about your own arrangement changes in between, which is how a lineup board should behave. Lineups export from the football board as PNG.
Coaches also use the football board as a session-planning companion: diagram today's drills on the half pitch, switch to the full pitch for the game-shape block, and export both images into the same session document. Because the board saves itself in your browser, next week's plan starts from this week's picture instead of a blank page.
What the football board gives you
Clean single-team start
No cluttered opponent on the first screen — just your eleven, the ball and space to think about your own structure.
Seven formation presets
4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 5-3-2 and 4-1-4-1 arrange themselves instantly for either team.
Full or half pitch
Plan the game shape on the full pitch, then flip to a half pitch for drills, finishing and small-sided games.
Simple drawing tools
Arrows, lines, zones and short labels — enough to communicate any exercise without a manual.
Numbers and labels on players
Shirt numbers are editable, and optional role labels like ST, CAM or Capt keep complex lineups readable.
Instant image export
One click produces a high-resolution PNG or scalable SVG of the pitch and your plan — no interface, no watermark.
Football board ideas for your next session
Lineup planning: load your usual formation, then drag the widest midfielder ten metres narrower to see how a 4-4-2 diamond hybrid might look against Saturday's opponents. Print both versions and let the staff pick — a decision made on a football board takes two minutes; the same decision argued in words takes twenty.
Training design: switch to the half pitch and lay out a rondo, a pressing wave or a finishing circuit. Use zones to mark the playing areas and text labels for the rules — 2 touch, 8 passes, switch. Export the image at the top of the session plan and every coach arrives knowing the setup.
When a session needs deeper tactics — pressing triggers, build-up patterns, set-piece routines — the related tools below take over: the full football tactics board for diagrams, the football tactics guide for ready-made examples you can open in one click, and the soccer whiteboard for freehand sketching. Same engine, same export, one consistent look across everything your team sees.
Football board FAQ
Is this football board free?
Yes — the football board is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limits. It runs in your browser and saves your work locally and automatically.
Can I show only my own team?
That's the default. The football board opens with the Home team and the ball only; press Add opponent team whenever a drill needs defenders, and remove it just as easily.
Can I plan lineups and formations?
Yes. Seven formation presets arrange eleven players instantly, every shirt number is editable, and players drag anywhere — perfect for starting elevens, hybrids and match-day rotations.
Does the board work on my phone?
Yes. The football board supports touch dragging and drawing on phones and tablets. Rotating a phone to landscape shows a larger pitch, but portrait mode works too.
How do I export my lineup or drill?
Choose Export in the toolbar: PNG gives you a high-resolution image for chat and slides, SVG a vector file that stays sharp in print. Only the pitch and your drawing are exported.
What's the difference between this and the football tactics board?
The football board is deliberately simpler — lineup-first, one team to start, quick sketches. The football tactics board page focuses on full tactical diagrams with both teams and preset examples. Both share the same engine.
